Gold Wash Plant

This article introduces working principle of gold wash plant, it is for extract gold from placer gold mining or alluvial gold mining plant.

Trommel wash plant working principle

A trommel is composed of a slightly-inclined rotating metal tube (the ‘scrubber section’) with a screen at its discharge end. Lifter bars, sometimes in the form of bolted in angle iron, are attached to the interior of the scrubber section. The ore is fed into the elevated end of the trommel. Water, often under pressure, is provided to the scrubber and screen sections and the combination of water and mechanical action frees the valuable minerals from the ore. The mineral bearing ore that passes through the screen is then further concentrated in smaller devices such as sluices and jigs. The larger pieces of ore that do not pass through the screen can be carried to a waste stack by a conveyor.

Alluvial gold washing plant in Ghana

Processing diagram of alluvial gold washing plant, specially in Ghana, Mali

-Raw materials feeding by excavator
Raw materials are fed via excavator from the feeding hopper of the mobile trommel screen, there is strong water pressure of pipe equipped in the large hopper

-Washing and classifying of the raw materials
The raw materials will be washed and classified by the rotation of mobile trommel screen, there is water pipe at one side of the trommel drum or inside. The gold dust will become slurry state and flows to the sluice box. Larger gravels will come to the end of the trommel, and can be sent away by belt conveyor.

-Collection of rough gold dust
The gold dust is heavier than soil and sands due to the greater specific gravity, which will stay on the PVC mat in the sluice box, while lighter materials will flow away. When the above goes for a certain time, the rough gold dust can be collected in the PVC mat. Thus the process is finished.

Deya exported many sets of gold washing trommel screen to Tanzania, Ghana, Mali, etc.
